Dinos Fall to Pitsnogles
The Jr. Dinos looked to be a little intimidated and awestruck against a Pitsnogles team that featured University of Calgary Dino starting point guard Josh Feist, and former Mount Royal Cougar player and Airdrie Elite East leading scorer Kelly Lundgren. The experience of the Pitsnogles, as well as their strength and veteran savy allowed them to pull ahead early, and maintain that lead for the entire game. At any point in which the Jr. Dinos were able to make a run, Josh Feist would score or get the ball to Kelly to stifle the Jr. Dinos hopes. Averaging an amazing 42.5 points a game going into the action, the Dinos were able to slow Lundgren down to 36 but it wasn’t enough falling 103-79. Josh Feist notched 18 points and an array of dazzling assists, while former Mount Royal Cougar Kevin was able to knock down 5 three’s and finish with 21 points.
The Jr. Dinos were lead by the scoring of Jordan Hone. Jordan scored 23 points, and grabbed numerous rebounds. Tyler Fidler added 10 points, while the 3 grade 10 players, Taylor Norum, Ian Tomaszewski and Trevor Debolt all played with energy against the much older and experienced team. Other scorers included Joe Theriault with 7, Piece Anderson with 7, Taylor Norum with 7, and Ian Tomaszewski with 8. The team was plagued by 28 turnovers.
The Jr. Dinos play in their first tournament action on Friday May 5 in Okotoks as they take on Westside AAA White at 5:30pm at Foothills Composite High School.
