Jr. Dinos Even Record to 2-2 with 87-86 Victory in Spring League Action

In a terrific game that saw the Jr. Dinos play back and forth with the Roswell Rayguns, it was the second half performance by Brennen Fule, and the last second lay-up by Tyler Fidler that proved to be the difference in the Dinos 87-86 victory.

The Roswell Rayguns were a team boasting several key members of the Bishop Grandin Ghosts who captured the Calgary City Championship this season. The team featured Reed Sieminiuk (University of Waterloo), Connor Norman (Lakeland College), Stephen Trinidad (Mount Royal College) and Doron Nand (former Jr. Dino). However, the Jr. Dinos were able to keep it close despite the best efforts of Sieminiuk and Trinidad who both put up big numbers (33 and 25 respectively) and the inside play of Connor Norman kept the Dinos honest (21 points). Trailing by 6 going into the second half, the Dinos made an early push to take the lead by 6 just minutes into the half. The second half was highlighted by the amazing scoring of Brennen Fule who scored 26 of his team high 29 points in the second half including 6 3-pt. Field goals and two and-one finishes at the basket. The Dinos trailed by 1 with :31 seconds to play. The Jr. Dinos were able to post-up Tyler Fidler close to the basket, and Tyler would not be denied. After a miriad of fakes and moves, Tyler was able to finish strong at the basket to put the Jr. Dinos up for good with :10 seconds to play. Relying on their defensive play, the Dinos were able to stifle the attack made by Sieminiuk and hold on for the victory.

Once again, it was Brennen Fule who lead the Dinos with 29 points. Taylor Norum enjoyed his best game as a Dino posting 15 points, grabbing numerous rebounds, and playing solid on both ends. The third Dino double digit scorer was Tyler Fidler with 11. In a great team game, the Dinos moved the ball well, and got everyone involved including Jordan Bachynski with 8, Joe Theriault with 8, Cam Perry with 7, and Ian Tomaszewski with 6. Trevor Debolt had a great game running the point guard spot for the Jr. Dinos and settled in nicely in the second half. The Dinos hope to build on this solid all-around performance when they suit up for their next game.

The Jr. Dinos take the floor once again tonight at Meadowbrook Jr. High in Airdrie against the G-Squad at 7:15. The G-Squad features former Jr. Dino and Dino signee Jared Laird.
