Jr. Dinos March Past G-Squad and to 3-2 Record
Playing against a very formidable line-up featuring Jared Laird of St. Francis high school and many SAIT and former college players, the Dinos were able to spark ahead early, and extend the lead for a 91-74 victory over the G-Squad in Airdrie Elite East Spring League action.
Getting their 7′0″ center in foul trouble early was key for the Dino attack. With 22:30 remaining in the second half, the Jr. Dinos were able to foul out the G-Squad’s center and take control of the game. More importantly, it was the Jr. Dinos defense and hustle that really turned the game around. Capitilizing on steals and turnovers, the Jr. Dinos were able to execute in the half court and take advantage of the oppurtunity. It was another great all around effort by the boys in white.
Once again, Brennen Fule lead the way for the Jr. Dinos scoring 23 points including 6 3-pt. field goals. Other double digit scorers included Tyler Fidler, who had a great second half scoring 16 of his 20 down the stretch to help the Dinos seal the victory. Pierce Anderson also posted another double-double grabbing 11 rebounds to go along with his 11 points. Cam Perry had another strong game scoring 11 points including 3 3-pointers. Taylor Norum had another strong game off the bench with 9 points, while Jordan Bachynski and Joe Theriault helped contribute to the early dismissal of the G-Squad’s center. The defense was once again lead by Ian Tomaszewski who seems to get every loose ball, every offensive rebound and is constantly guarding the opposing team’s best perimeter player.
The Jr. Dinos see action again next week as they continue their Spring League Schedule against the Mount Royal Cougars. Game time is 7:15 at Bert Church High School.
