Jr. Dinos Play Solid Game Despite Loss; Spring League Record 3-3

Filed under: — Matt Skinn @ 12:27 am

Despite the loss, the Jr. Dinos U-17 Club Team played a solid game against the Mount Royal Cougars on Tuesday Night. The Cougars featured most of the line-up from their 2006 ACAC Championship season, including Forwards Mark Lynch, Nick Wiebe, Sean Landry, and Guards Kalem Edlund, Tanner Mitchell and Jeff Price. Using their experience and clutch shooting, the Cougars were able to capitilize down the stretch and were able to pull out the 87-75 victory. Mark Lynch lead the way for the Cougars with 25 points and several key rebounds down the stretch to put the game out of reach for the Dinos.

The Jr. Dinos hustle and competitiveness was easy to see throughout the course of the game. Getting to loose balls, and aggressive play allowed the team to surge back in the second half getting within 2 points on more than one occasion. Still learning to play together, the Jr. Dinos played hard and should be proud of the effort they put in to the game on Tuesday. Once again leading the way for the Jr. Dinos was Brennen Fule. His hot shooting kept the Dinos alive for much of the game. Brennen scored 27 points which included 7 3-point field goals and some great takes to the basket. Kendall Boese, the lightning quick point guard out of Three Hills had his best game of the Spring scoring 13 points and dishing out assists while reaking havoc on the Cougar ball handlers. Jordan Bachynski, the 6′10″ forward out of Centennial High School continued to show improvement adding 10 points to the Dinos totals. Strong games were also had by Joey Theriault, and Ian Tomaszewski who played great defense and showed their worth doing all of the little things.

This game should prove to provide some good momentum for the Jr. Dinos as they head into tournament action this weekend in Calgary. The Dinos play at 11:00 am on Saturday morning in the Calgary Selects Tournament. The Dinos hope to have every one healthy and ready for action as Tyler Fidler was forced to miss game action on Tuesday due to the flu. Make sure to come out and cheer on the Dinos this weekend!
