In what seemed like their 1000th consecutive match-up, the Jr. Dinos played the Elite East Team from Airdrie for the 3rd time this summer. The Jr. Dinos once again beat the fiesty Charger team 87-71 to improve their record to 4 wins and 3 losses in Spring League action. In a game which saw a well rounded performance by the Chargers, the Jr. Dinos were able to capitilize on turnovers, while riding the hot shooting performance of Tyler Fidler.

Despite missing point guard Kendall Boese, and forward Joey Theriault, the Jr. Dinos were able to use their superior depth to wear out the opposition. The Chargers were once again led by the oustanding performances of Dominyc Coward, Dallon Martin, and Zach McGee. Dom was a power on the glass and inside scoring 27 points, while Zach added 15 and Dallon 10. The surprise performer of the night was Daron Charlesworth who capitlized on the double teaming of teammates as he finished with 14 big points.

In an outstanding team effort, the Dinos were able to subside the relentless attack of the Chargers, and were outstanding on converting in transition. The Jr. Dinos only committed 12 turnovers for the game, while capitilizing on 12 steals. The team was led by the great performance of Tyler Fidler. Tyler was 6 for 10 from the 3 point line, 5 for 7 from the field including 3 dunks to finish with 29 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Taylor Norum, continuing to improve everyday, had another impressive game finishing with 11 points on 5 for 7 shooting and 10 rebounds for another double double. Jordan Bachynski also played a very solid game scoring 9 points, while adding two points and 3 rebounds. The scoring was rounded out by Brennen Fule’s 9, Mike Berlando’s 8, while Pierce Anderson and Ian Tomaszewski both had 6. Oustanding defensive efforts were put in by Ian Tomaszewski, Brennen Fule, and Taylor Norum who were assigned to the Chargers top players for most of the game.

Guaranteed atleast a .500 record, the Jr. Dinos continue action in the Airdrie Spring League this week on Wednesday against the Old Chargers at 6:00pm. The Jr. Dinos also continue their tournament action this upcoming weekend in the Sheep River Shootout which takes place in Okotoks.
